Prototype or production?
This is the whole comparison, and it is worth answering honestly before choosing either. Bolt is exceptional at the first mile: describe something, watch a working full-stack project assemble in the browser, change it, run it, and see whether the idea holds. No local setup, no environment configuration, nothing to install. That is real value and it is the reason people reach for it. What it is not optimised for is the tenth month, when the thing needs to stay up, stay current, and quietly bring in customers while you do your actual job. Most business websites live almost entirely in the tenth month.
What does a business website need that a prototype does not?
A short list, and none of it is glamorous. It needs to stay online without anyone watching. It needs to be editable by whoever is around, which usually means not a developer, at the moment a price changes or a service is dropped. It needs to take a booking or an invoice. And it needs to be findable, which now means being recommended when someone asks an AI assistant for a business like yours, not only ranking on a results page. A prototype needs none of these things, which is why prototyping tools do not have them and why that is the correct design decision on their part.

Can you use both?
